Jayci's Smell

(This is one of the very last pictures ever taken of Jayci. It was taken at our very last family dinner together two nights before she passed away. This is something she would typically do with every meal.... WEAR IT)

Today has been a rough one for me. I have been doing laundry and it seems like every load that I have pulled out smells like the last time I was able to smell Jayci. It isn't necessarily her natural smell but the smell of the funeral home. I don't know why but that smell just reminds me of her. It takes me back to those last days with her when I was able to dress her and the very last time I was able to actually hold her in my arms. Its the last smell that I could smell when I leaned over to kiss her for the very last time before they shut her casket.

I wish that it didn't have to be her smell but it's the only smell that I have left that I can remember. Sometimes I will be driving down the road or doing dishes and that smell will come and go as quick as I can catch a whiff of it but I often wonder if it's her just saying hello or wanting her presence to be known. I have mentioned to Jeff after the funeral that if the smell in her blanket (the one that was wrapped around her the morning she was found) ever goes away if he would wash it for me again and he said sure. I know that sounds so morbid but I just love to smash my face into that blanket sometimes and just cry till I can't cry anymore....

I got an email from Ashley Sullenger (http://patrickandashley.blogspot.com/ ) the other day and she asked how I was doing. She said around month three and four is when she started to fall apart.( She lost her little girl to a downing accident as well and we just have alot in common. You can follow her story by clicking on the address above.)

I have been trying to tell myself that I am going to hold strong but I think REALITY really has set in. I have been aching for the love and life that she brought into my home. The way she always made us laugh and the crazy things she would always be doing. I wonder if she would be talking now or if she would even have more teeth. I wonder if she would continue to have the "LOTT" laugh. LOUD and Contagious! I always tell Layne that I want another little girl just like her. I want a free spirited kid in my home that is just like her Dad: Quiet and always giving me a hard time. Everyday my struggles are different but everyday the ache is still the same.

General Conference Drive-October 2006

Still shocked about Amanda and Erica in this picture. They have grown up so much!

8 Months Pregnant with Ellie. I thought everyday I was going into labor because of braxton hicks but no such luck. She stuck it out for a whole whopping 4 weeks after this picture. Seriously thought I was going to explode!

Our First Christmas Tree

So I have been going through all our pictures that are on CD and decided I wanted to add some of them here so I can save the memories... But I really did it so I can make books like my blog books for the time we were married until Ava was born (which is where I originally started blogging). I have just been dying over how young we were... I can't believe how naive we were and now look at us..... The reality is- we have no control over certain circumstances but can rely on the Lord to guide us where we need to be and help us in our times of need.

Married for Time and all Eternity in the Logan Temple

I could not be more thankful than I am today that I married this man. Him and I have been best friends since the moment we met. But today I am so thankful that I choose to be married to him in the temple for time and all eternity... I am so thankful that I choose to have an eternal family and know that I get to be with them forever. Especially more NOW than ever before. I would say that Layne and I are closer now than we ever have been and have learned that no matter what we have each other and that is all that matters.

10 Year Class Reunion

I just have to say that about 4 months ago I could not wait to go to my 10 year reunion. And then the accident happened and I wasn't quite sure about going anymore. I wanted to go but didn't want to answer a 101 questions and have to explain the situation a million times. But I was surprisingly glad that most people would just give me a hug and say they were sorry and then move on to the next subject like dying over the slide show that was put together. SERIOUSLY embarrassing. I am so glad Layne knew about the UGLY years because WOW. It was awful. I seriously laughed so hard I had the half pipe bangs that did not move and they appeared more times then I'd like to admit in the video... Although I do have to say the bangs were never a mess and always stayed in the same spot until I tried to grow them out and that was AWFUL! Anyway the night was so fun. I enjoyed talking to everyone and catching up. I can't wait to see what the 20 year brings and hopefully my life will be smooth sailing from here on out so I don't have to be the one people talk about! Thanks everyone for the good time and look forward to keeping in touch and facebook/blog stalking you!

Playing Outside/Roasting Marshmellows

Ellie saw the HUGE marshmellows in Mom's cupboard and decided she wanted to roast one on the grill. She saw it done at the Lott family reunion and didn't get to participate so she wanted to try it. It worked AWESOME... so she ate her marshmellow and we sat outside and visited. It was a beautiful evening to sit outside and not be inside for awhile!

Aren't we cute!

Ellie June and Ava Charlette

I told my sister while I was up there I would watch Ava for her while her and her husband went on a Anniversary getaway. I cannot believe how much they have both grown up since last time I was at my Mom's. The hardest part about watching these two together was missing little girl #3. She should of been right in the middle of all the fun and fighting that these two did.

I ache for her all the time and being up there the first time with out Jayci about killed me. I just wanted her to be there and screaming all night long since the only place she would EVER sleep was in her own crib. I would give anything even the sleepless nights just to have that little girl back only if it were for just a minute. I also had a really hard time up there because it was her 3 month anniversary of passing away. I can't believe that it has been that long yet it feels like yesterday! For the most part Ava asked me a few questions about her but Ellie would just say things like, "Mom, I miss Jayci. or Mom, Jayci would of loved this..." I ache for her to have a sister again or at least someone to play with again. But for right now It's just her, her Dad, and I.... One day the time will be right but for now.... it is what it is!

Grandpa Fred's Fish Hatchery

Posted by Picasa

Priceless

While we were in Orofino we went to my step-dads work and went and saw all the fish, since he works at a fish hatchery. Well, Layne and I were goofing off behind my Grandma and she walked off with the girls. And as soon as I noticed I stopped bugging Layne and quickly took a picture. I love this picture because I know someday my Granny won't be around and am so grateful that my little girls know and loved her. According to Ellie she is "Grandma with the puppies." Ellie has so many Grandma's she has to keep them straight with memories. Pretty sweet if you ask me!

Playing at the Park

So just a little vent... I just had someone say to me "I know that losing a child is hard but watching your child lose a child is harder." SERIOUSLY, they obviously don't have a clue and really who says that other than a person that needs attention on themselves! I wonder if people even think before they start talking. It's a good dang thing I'm a nice person or else this one really would of pushed me over the edge.

3 Months to the Day

A few weeks ago I realized that while I was going to be at my mom's it was going to be the anniversary of Jayci's death exactly 3 months to the day. As I woke up this morning I was instantly in a bad mood. I know it's because I miss my girl and am mad because she should have been the one waking me up with her sweet smile. Is this really happening to me? Did this really happen? Has the shock started to wear off? I still feel like I'm living in a dream. I know that my sweet baby was here but I often feel like she was a dream too. It was three years with just Ellie and I at home and 16 months after she was born it is just back to Ellie and I. Jayci fit perfectly into that glimpse of my life. She left her own kind of legacy. One that has changed my life forever. I will always be a better person because of her. I will never forget the covenants I made when I was sealed to my husband and my kids for time and all eternity! I am so grateful for the knowledge I have that families are forever and how much I cherish those promises I made the day I married my best friend. It has made me a better wife, mother, and friend. I know that without a shadow of doubt that I have an eternal family and I know that families are together forever. Without this knowledge I would be lost... I am reminded daily to cherish every moment I have with my family and look forward to the 2nd coming so that we can all be together again. I ache for the Osterhout family and am so grateful for our friendship and the love that they continue to show towards us on a daily basis. I know that this is not easy for them and pray that they will find peace someday. I pray that they will always know of the love of our Savior and will lean on Him in every hour of need. I am so grateful for the love that others have shown towards me and my family. I have heard a few times that when the funeral and everything is over everyone moves on with their lives and you have to learn how to move on in your's. It's partially true but I am so grateful for the friends that I can call and cry with on any given moment of any given day. They know who they are and should know how much I appreciate them. I honestly don't know what I would do without them.... I would say that my life is moving forward and some days are easier than others but I do what I can. A day has not gone by that we don't pray for our baby girl and for peace to be able to move forward in our lives. I am so thankful for each day that I have to make myself a better person. Jayci, just know that we love you more each day and are so grateful for your example and for the way that you have changed the lives of many including your parents. Please continue to influence others and always stay with me, I'm so grateful for the moments when I can feel you near. Please just stay one step ahead of us and always watch out for us. I LOVE YOU SISSY!

Picnic in the Park

07/20/2011
Yesterday a few of my friends and I wanted to get together and have a picnic and play on a splash pad. I had the best time. I saw some friends from high school that I haven't seen since highschool. As we were all sitting around visiting I realized that we all only had girls! It was halarious! One of the girls there actually has an older boy but he was in boise with his Dad. Other then that there were lots of little girls running around including a few extra's that weren't ours like my sisters Ava and another one of my friends sister(s) daughters. We had such a good time visiting and I was so excited to get to spend time with them. Some of us just picked up where we left off in highschool.

After everyone was getting ready to pack up and go home my niece ran over to me screaming. She was crying that her head hurt. I had not paid enough attention to what happend because I was helping clean up but her head was bleeding. And I lifted up her hair and realized I would need to go do something about it. Thank goodness my friend Jen is a nurse was there and said it would probably be a good idea to go to the hospital espeically since a Mom came up to us and asked if she was okay. She said I hope her head is okay because half of my sons tooth is missing.... ( SERIOUSLY) so Jen looked at it again and said I don't see the tooth but you better go make sure and since the mouth has so many bad germs its a good idea to go and get it looked at. So my mom was headed to lewiston anyway and met me at the hospital they glued her shut and she was ready to go. She didn't hardly make a peep. If it was Ellie she would of SCREAMED bloody murder! I just laugh because the last thing Amanda said to me while leaving was TAKE CARE OF MY LITTLE GIRL!!! Such a freak accident but seriously MY LUCK! BAD!!!!

Another First!

07/20/2011

Yesterday we drove up to Orofino to spend a week with my mom but it was the longest drive of my life because I missed her.

I missed her screaming and kicking the back of my seat. I missed her because Ellie had her headphones on and the only peeps I heard out of her were "are we there yet" (ONCE) and "I have to go potty" 5 or 6 times other then that it was silent. Which was fabulous, other then the fact that I was left with so much quiet time and had to pull over a few times just to get a few good cries out. I hated the fact that this was the first time that I was going to spend time at my mom's with out both of my girls and that my life is forever changed. I know where my sweet little girl is but it doesn't make it any easier on our everyday adventures. They say that the firsts are always the hardests but I am beginning to think that everything is hard, I don't think it matters how many times something happens its just always going to be hard. I hope she knows how much I miss her and how I cannot wait till the second coming so I can see her again! I miss that smile and mostly just holding her when ever I wanted. I ache for her but know she is in good hands. I often have to laugh to myself when I think of those up there trying to take care of her. They are just begging me to come and save them from her. I know that those of my friends that have watched Jayci also know this feeling.... They just look at her and wonder to themselves "Is your Mom EVER going to come and get you?!" I am so grateful for the opportunity that I get to go and get her and continue raising my sweet ball of fire. But today I feel sad that she isn't here to spend the day with her cousin and sister and reek havoc on Grandma's house. Oh sweet girl.... I love you!

In case I missed you....

Going Private again!!!

I have had a long talk with my husband and it's time to go private again. I have really enjoyed the opportunity that I have had to share Jayci's Story with all of you but it's time I take our lives back and go private again. If you are still wanting to follow us please leave your email address and I'll let you in on all our family happenings. Just know I appreciate all the love and support that I have been shown here on the blog and look forward to keeping in contact with you.

Ellie Funnies

"Conversation with Granny June"

Granny get's out of the car and says "I need to use the rest room."

Ellie says "You need to go potty?"

Granny "Yes"

Ellie says "Okay I'll take you."

(Granny could not even tell me the story because she was laughing to hard. I thought it was so cute she wanted to help.)

"Sacrament Meeting 08/09/08"

Ellie "Mom where is your bag"

Dad "Do you want a snack?"

Ellie "Yeah" Cough Cough Cough
Dad preceeds to get her a treat but she started gaging a little bit. Chokes spits up a little bit, and Layne catches it in his hand.
Ellie (look of disgust) "Dad go throw it in the gabage that is DISGUSING"
So Layne gets up and washes his hands.
(I about peed my pants laughing)

"This Morning 08/18/09"

I was in the kitchen making hot chocolate. Which I LOVE. Ellie decides she wants some to. But I was watching my TV show and told her to wait a minute. She was not going for that so she grabbed my arm and says "Pease Mom your the best". I love it when she says that, how can you tell her to hold on then?!

"On our way home from Twin. 8/22/09"

Ellie was whinny in the back seat and Layne started to mimic her and she got really mad and said. "Dad quit being a whiner."

"Tonight sitting on my lap in the Kitchen 9-08-09"

Ellie: I wanna get married

Mom: dieing of laughter "what did you say"

Ellie: I wanna get married

Dad: Not till your thirty!

Ellie: Ok

10/05/09

All of us playing make believe after dinner?!

Ellie: Mom you be Ellie, I'll be Dad and Dad be mommy because you have a Belly like mommy... (I laughed so hard)

So she wanted some dinner and said while deepening her voice "Darlin bring me some dinner"

We were laughing way to hard to keep playing... She was on one that night

12/02/09

After bringing Jayci home from the hospital.

Ellie: Mom why is Jayci eating your boob?(said so disgustedly)

Mom: because that is how she gets her food.

Ellie: Can she eat my boob?

01/24/2010

Getting ready for church.

I curled Ellies hair this morning and put a cute flower in it. She was wearing a new dress with her boots. I told her she looked rockin. She says "yeah i'm rockin" I tried to get her to put her coat on but she said "no mom I want to show dad how fashionable I am" Seriously what three year old talks like that.
02/08/10
Setting the scene: Ellie walks out of my room with just a t shirt on. I ask her. Where are your pants. She says: Mom their wet! well why or they wet. With her hand on her hip and shaking her finger at me she says "Because moder I had an Asserdent"
